Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish in Denver. Viewing/Visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Rosary to start at 10:30 AM with the Mass to begin at 11:00 AM, Fr. Nick to preside – Reception will follow the Mass at St. Rose of Lima Hall.

Pete Gonzales, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 1st at his home surrounded by members of his family. Pete was born in Capulin, CO to Jose & Elifonsita Gonzales. He was the oldest son with numerous sisters and brothers, many who are deceased. His surviving Brother George (Stella), Sister Helen (Frenchy-Deceased), Sister Isidora (Albert-Deceased) and Sister-in-law Toni (Florentino Jr.-Deceased) will sadly miss him, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete went to schools in the San Luis Valley and moved to Denver in 1945. Soon after, he met his loving wife Elsie at Gates Rubber Company, they were married, celebrating their 72nd anniversary this year. He worked at Gates in various departments for 44 + years when he retired. They had 6 children, 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Dad enjoyed playing guitar and bass in various music groups, playing for dances, weddings and many parties. After retiring he started a small independent business doing remodeling and handy man jobs. He became overwhelmed with work and was not able to keep up with the demands. He worked hard his whole life and found much joy in that. He enjoyed boxing and could never miss the Friday Night Fights on TV, along with many matches throughout the years. He was always willing to help when the need arose. His work at Gates and enjoyment of entertaining with music brought many dear friends into his life, many who remained until his passing.
He is survived by his Wife; Daughters, Rosie and Daria (Todd) Sons, JR, Andy, Avery (Rhonda) and Joe; Grandchildren, Alaina, Sage, Nicole & Ryan and numerous Cousins. Pete was preceded in death by several Sisters, Brothers, Nephews Keith & Glen and Grandsons Trini & Jeremy.
